This photo was taking at Maroon Bells in Aspen. I have been here before at sunrise when there were literally over 100 photographers lined up, but this shot was done at sunset and there was no one around. I absolutely prefer it this way!

Happy Thanksgiving

Today we are reminded of the true things we are thankful for. Take a moment to reflect on the beauty that surrounds you, appreciate the life you are blessed to live, and those you share it with. May your thankfulness continue even after today.

Thankful for the small things!

Normally in landscape type shots, I try to get pictures without people. But every once in awhile, a person makes the picture what it is. This older gentleman getting his exercise on, made the mouth full of bugs I got all worth the while. Thankful for you old guy! Look close and you might see all the little bugs flying around this pier in Menominee, MI.

JBlack Originals Goes Live

JBlack originals is finally going live TODAY! After years of running all over the globe taking pictures, it has finally come together in a way that allows me to share my passion with the world.
Most of the shots that you will see me post are done in HDR (High Dynamic Range). This style of photography is a large part of my passion. HDR allows a picture to capture a range of light that a traditional photo would have a hard time doing. In short, it is multiple exposures of the same photo that are merged in the post processing. More to come on this later...
